PEGO

Pego is a town located in the Marina Alta region, northwest of the province of Alicante. It stands out for its extraordinary biodiversity and the quality of its waters. In 1994 the Marjal de Pego-Oliva was declared a Natural Park, covering an area of 1,255 hectares. It is one of the highest-quality wetlands in the Mediterranean, being part of the Natura 2000 Network as a Site of Community Importance (SCI) and a Special Protection Area for Birds (SPA), as well as an International Ramsar Convention site.

 

In 1994, the Pego-Oliva Marsh was declared a Natural Park.
