TEULADA-MORAIRA

Teulada-Moraira is a municipality formed by two distinct population centers: Teulada, the oldest, located inland and serving as the municipal capital; Moraira, situated on the coast, originally a fishing village, has become one of the main attractions of the Costa Blanca.
The municipality boasts excellent connectivity with high-capacity roadways and an international airport less than an hour’s drive away.
The territory, as evidenced by findings in the Cova de les Cendres, has been inhabited since the Upper Paleolithic Iberians, Romans, and Muslims, who built terraced fields that still characterize the landscape of this beautiful town, have all left their mark. The Muslims were eventually defeated by Jaime I.

The region was also subject to attacks by Berber pirates, leading to the construction of what we now know as Moraira Castle. The settlement, initially focused on fishing, grew around the protective shelter of the castle. Slightly earlier, but also linked to territorial defense, is the watchtower of Cap d’Or.

n the urban center of Teulada, with an intriguing and well-preserved old town, the Church-Fortress of Santa Catalina stands out as a major point of interest. Winding cobbled streets radiate from the church, exuding charm, and along these streets, you’ll find the Sala de Jurado y Justicias, the former Town Hall, the chapel of the Divina Pastora, and the chapel of San Vicente Ferrer. The Valencian thaumaturge saint, according to tradition, left his miracles in these lands.

The modern Teulada-Moraira is exemplified by the spectacular Auditorium, not only a center for music of all genres but also an icon of modern architecture in the area and avant-garde culture.
